Prime Protection Plan

Protecting Your Belongings

At Prime Storage, we know that the goods tenants choose to store with us matter – otherwise, they wouldn’t bother storing them at all. However, Prime Storage is not responsible for the contents of your storage unit. That’s why, in accordance with the terms of Prime Storage’s rental agreement, all tenants are required to demonstrate they have coverage that protects belongings they store – either by enrolling in the Prime Protection Plan or submitting acceptable proof of insurance for an existing policy that covers remotely stored goods.

The Prime Protection Plan

The Prime Protection Plan has no deductible and provides coverage for certain losses, including theft, vandalism, water damage due to roof leaks, and fire/smoke damage, among other claims.* With several different levels of protection available, tenants can choose the level of coverage for their stored goods that’s right for them!

The Prime Protection Plan may not be available for all storage units, including parking spaces, and other terms, conditions and exclusions may apply. If you have questions, your local facility manager or Prime Storage’s Customer Service Center is available to assist.

Using Your Own Policy

You are welcome to use your own insurance policy to meet the requirements of our rental agreement, however, you must provide a copy of the declaration page for your policy which must indicate it covers remotely stored goods.

If acceptable proof of insurance is not provided within 7 days of your rental or if an insurance policy you previously provided evidence of expires, Prime Storage will automatically enroll you in the minimum Prime Protection Plan coverage amount available. If we subsequently receive acceptable proof of insurance coverage for remotely stored items from you, we will cancel your Prime Protection coverage and remove the monthly amount charged to your account for such protection.

*All responsibility and obligations under the Prime Protection Plan are limited to and performed in accordance with the terms and conditions of the Prime Protection Plan Addendum to the rental agreement; see Addendum for full details. The Prime Protection Plan is not an insurance policy and none of Prime Storage, its owners, affiliates, or managers (“Prime Storage”) are an insurance company. Prime Storage may purchase insurance to transfer part or all of the liability assumed under the Prime Protection Plan.
